IFRC Micro-forest

Story

Inside the IFRC's Geneva campus, TSF created a dense, diverse 200 m² Miyawaki micro-forest — one of four planned interventions across the site. This micro-forest is complete and stands as the first finished phase of the broader IFRC Park project.

Part of a larger project

The micro-forest sits within a much larger 13,000 m² public park that TSF continues to work on, including a food forest, a medicinal garden and managed woodland. Those remaining elements are planned, not yet complete — see the full IFRC Park project for the current status of the whole site.

Method

The micro-forest was planted using the Miyawaki method, a dense, fast-establishing multi-layer planting approach designed to accelerate natural forest succession on a small footprint.
